Problem
Tried the Nested Queries with the Templates Template:CatTree and Template:CatTreeSub.
Result:
*KDB
**Administration
{{CatTreeSub|:Kategorie:Administration|Administration}}
**Anwendung
{{CatTreeSub|:Kategorie:Anwendung|Anwendung}}

There seems to be a massive change in MW1.12 which leads to that behaviour.
I have no idea how to make this feature work under 1.12.

Maybe you could demand some explanation from the people who chnaged the parser?
