I cannot figure out why my TOC is showing up after formatting a DPL like so:

When you set "debug=5" in one of your DPL queroes you will see that there is a _TOC_ pragma within the text output produced by DPL. It may come from a style sheet or from the original sources of the pages you include. I recommend to embed the DPL query within a #replace statement to eliminate these pragmas.
