Description: 'tablesortcol' ignored when surrogate template used
Extension / Version: DPL   /   1.7.4
Type / Status: Bug   /   open / answered

Problem

The table appears to be generated sorted first by article, then by content.

Possible alternative cause

Given the test case I used, it's also possible that the actual cause is that the designated column contains a link; the sort is then based on the name of the page linked to, rather than the link's display text. IMHO, the latter would be more desirable.

Currently the sort is based on the content of the selected column - whatever that may be. No further "intelligence" is applied. But you can add hidden text within html-comments at the very beginning of the content of the column - so you can define your sort criteria and hide them to the user. See tablesortcol.

I think this is sufficient as a solution to the problem.

As an alternative you can use the trick described in DPL Example 023 which works quite nicely if you apply the small patch to the sort script as described.
